Perth's purveyors of "high-speed distorto-pop", zxspecky launch their latest CD on Saturday 13 June 2009. Entitled Vegetative State, the CD features nine tracks of premium pop tunes compressed down into the shortest possible time with the volume on eleven, and is sure to leave listeners awed.
In typical DIY, BYO booze style, the launch is to be held at Sounds Suite, located on Railway Parade in Bassendean--right next to Ashfield station. No health lobbiest groups are involved in the organisation of this launch, the invitation clearly states that maximum fun times are to be had by all; and with 8 bands on the bill over 6 hours, that's guaranteed!

Some very sad news to the Perth music industry occurred last week when Krystal Maynard, guitarist for now Melbourne-based Perth- bred rockers The Jacknives, was diagnosed with cancer. This is a horrible thing to happen to a very popular and much loved member of the Australian music scene. Krystal will be undergoing treatment soon so to try and assist her and her family in some small way and hopefully just eliminate a bit of extra stress, the Perth music community has got together to put on a massive fundraiser gig for her in the hope of raising as much cash as possible. This will be taking place next Sunday May 31 at the Hydey Back Room at 2pm. It’s a public holiday the next day so all the more reason to get down and enjoy some of Perth’s best acts. The idea behind PANDEMONIUM comes from the lackluster lineup of the big day out.. I think a lot of music stands toe to toe with any band featured on that lineup. And I think a lot of people will have more fun at pandemonium than they did at big day out. This type of show should be happening more often.

I’ve officially started tyranocorp as a business because this is want I want to do with my life, I don’t want to be a carpenter or a plumber, I want to put on massive, shows make awesome music. I want ..Perth.. to be the headquarters of what I hope to one day be a global operation – as the overall goal is to take perthbands around the world, because I believe that this town has something about it that makes the music and the people unlike anything else – anywhere in the world. Some might say that’s delusions of grandeur, but with the right about of determination..all things are possible.....
I don’t organise shows or manage bands for a quick buck, I do it because I believe in the talents of those whom I represent and dedicate myself to getting them the attention they deserve. On the punters side of things, local music makes up a big chunk of their social life, and I want to put on the biggest and best shows imaginable for their entertainment, I want to put on local gigs so good that when a touring band comes to town – you’ll here a punter say “last week at the hydey was better”. Among these reasons, I also want to completely destroy popular music and culture and believe that the tyranocorp army is fully equipped to establish a new set of standards – no more tight jeans and haircuts, thank you very much – let’s hear some revolutionary shit..
Tyranocorp Online is currently in development, it will act as a homepage for the performers managed by Tyranocorp, but will also provide up to the minute local music news, interviews, reviews, streaming content and alternative lifestyle columns, the stand out feature is it will allow any Australian artist to login, update and manage their own profiles and activities.. the website will provide a list of band and event management services that I offer, which will expand hopefully into providing merchandise services within the upcoming months.
life's about to get very interested. chainsaw horror will be closed on dec 24th. we just can't afford the shop, and the location is killing us. it's already a niche market - local music and horror and add the fact its the arse end of perth, we just can't afford to stay there. unless we start making well over a grand a week. so we're getting out before we get ourselves in even more debt.
we're having a massive party on sunday night to say thank you and farewell to chainsaw - as we know it. contact me if you're interested in attending, but we are doing some form of crowd control. the store will continue on as a pop up stall, an online website and our stand at the hyde park. we'll also be at the big day out i believe. along with FUCKING FANTOMAS. and those are about my only reasons for attending big day out.

Ok.. so the magoos started off sometime in 2000, fronted by Rama Magoo and backed by a different lineup. the magoos became a core band at the heart of the Perth punk scene... enter 2008, with the magoos having been deceased for nearly 3 years, Rama was basically begged to do a show, but with other band members not even in the same city anymore, asked fellow Hollywood Graves members to learn the songs for what was meant to be a one show career. Ok so it went fukken crazy and along came a second show. Even more crazy than the first, the boys played a 20 minute set that left crowd members stumbling away bleeding and loving it... Independent label "Vertex Records" who just happened to be there, just had to have these boys in the studio ASAP. So booked for the following week, and recorded in about 6 hours, the magoos first 7" ep will be available soon on Vertex Records.
Now with a full line up, the band is hard at writing to complete a set. taking our time to bring you what will be the weirdest and most original music we've had in perth since... well, it's all pretty vanilla here ain't it?

my average week lately consists of work 6 days a week, 2-3 rehearsals, a gig that i'm either playing at, booked or managing a band on the bill, a date night where I actually get to see my lovely wife, free entry and bar tab at the horror shop on saturday nights (where chainsaw horror sets up cobwebs and skeletons and cool shit like that) and every free moment i have is taken up the daily tasks of running/managing/promoting chainsaw horror, managing the homicides & mongrel country, writing music for the killuminati (who nathan just quit, and has been replaced by the best guitarist i've ever worked with - besides andy), the bible bashers or hollywood grave/the magoos. to say that my life schedule is hectic would be an understatement.
on top of that, we have to move house, thats the second move in a year. i think we've been on second ave for about 4 months. i can't be fucked worrying about being homeless. something always works out.
